A Conversation on Leadership, Systems, and the Future of Global-Ready Healthcare from Pakistan

At Medhouse, innovation isn’t just confined to laboratories and production floors — it flows from leadership and vision. In this exclusive interview, we speak with Dr. Zohaib Uppal, the General Manager of Medhouse Group, whose strategic leadership and operational discipline continue to shape Medhouse’s path to becoming one of Pakistan’s most reliable pharmaceutical and Nutraceuticals exporters.

With a strong background in medical sciences and healthcare management, Dr. Zohaib Uppal brings both clinical insight and business acumen to the organization. His role is instrumental in translating vision into execution across multiple divisions — from human health to animal wellness and Cosmoceuticals.

Q1: Dr. Zohaib, how would you define the Medhouse vision in your own words?

Dr. Zohaib Uppal:

The Medhouse vision is rooted in three key principles: systems, integrity, and global scalability. We believe in building a health enterprise that doesn’t depend on individuals but is led by robust systems — from quality assurance to supply chain logistics. Whether it’s a multivitamin for humans or a liver tonic for poultry, every product must meet the same uncompromising standards.

Q2: How does Medhouse maintain consistency across such diverse product lines?

That’s where structure matters. Each division — Medhouse Pharmaceuticals, Nutraceuticals, Derma Care, and Animal Health — operates semi-independently but under a unified governance framework. We have dedicated R&D, quality control, and regulatory compliance units aligned with ISO 9001 and UKAS-certified practices.

We’re not just producing supplements — we’re building a model for quality-driven, export-compliant healthcare out of Pakistan.

Q3: Medhouse is expanding globally. What’s the biggest challenge in scaling from Gujrat to global markets?

One challenge is perception. People often underestimate companies based outside major metros like Karachi or Lahore. But I see that as our strength — we’re proving that excellence isn’t tied to geography, it’s tied to discipline.

We’ve built systems for documentation, multilingual packaging, and country-specific compliance, so on boarding new international partners becomes frictionless. That’s rare among mid-sized companies here.

Q4: How do you ensure product innovation and scientific relevance?

Innovation must be grounded in research and real-world application. At Medhouse, we invest in:

  • New formulation development
  • Probiotic and GUT health studies
  • Herbal combinations with documented efficacy
  • Product-specific trials for veterinary health

Our R&D lab, manned by qualified pharmacists and life scientists, isn’t just for regulatory checks — it’s a think tank for product advancement.

Q5: What makes Medhouse’s leadership model different from others in the industry?

We follow what I call “distributed leadership”. While our Chairman, Mr. Rohail Aslam, sets a bold and strategic direction, daily operations are handled by trained professionals across every department. We believe in empowering people through clarity, not control.

This allows us to be both agile and accountable — two things essential for sustained global growth.

Q6: What are your future goals as General Manager?

We’re already operating in 7+ countries, but my goal is to expand to 15+ over the next two years. That includes strengthening our regulatory documentation pipeline, developing ERP-based systems for scalability, and launching B2B distribution platforms for partners across Europe, MENA, and Southeast Asia.

On the domestic side, we aim to make Medhouse the employer of choice for Pharma professionals who value structure, growth, and purpose.

Q7: What’s your message to young professionals entering this industry?

Build your career on depth, not shortcuts. Learn your systems, understand your data, and be curious about what’s next. At Medhouse, we welcome young minds who are willing to combine science with strategy — because that’s the future of healthcare, not just in Pakistan, but globally.

Final Thoughts

Under Dr. Zohaib Uppal’s operational leadership, Medhouse continues to break barriers — not just in production or export, but in how health companies are led in Pakistan.

With a strong foundation of systems, ethics, and a global mindset, Medhouse is positioning itself not just as a supplier — but as a trusted health partner in the international arena.

“We’re not chasing the largest volume — we’re building the strongest structure.”

— Dr. Zohaib Uppal
